Why Stay Home to Make Money?

News reports tell us how many companies have closed recently, who are about to declare bankruptcy, or how many employees have been fired and laid off.

This recession is one of the worst to hit our economies since the Great Depression of the 1930's.

I know how you must feel. It must be depressing to lose your job. I have lost 3 jobs myself in the last 2 years alone. And frankly, I'm getting tired of trying to go back in the rat race.

So instead of succumbing to despair, I do my best to keep this all in perspective. Plus, I know for a fact, that with every crisis comes opportunity. So one has to be prepared to grab an opportunity when it has presented itself.

When I look back at my life I realize how much of it was spent working just to earn money - just to get by and meet my responsibilities. It was never about my passion and purpose.

That's why I have started to look for opportunities elsewhere. This time, I'm determined to look inside and see where my passion lies. And I found my answer. For me, learning has always been a top priority. I look at myself as a perennial student.

And what better way to spend my time than staying home to learn new things and then, teach other people what I've learned so far.

Consider this scenario: You're home. You have everything you need online. Your work is to learn new things and apply them. But in between, you can pee whenever you want to; you can stretch and hop on the stair masters for 5-10 minutes if you feel drowsy;no one will give you a memo if you exceed your 15-minute break; and best of all, you don't need to dress up, put on your 2-inch heels and make up. And you earn more money even when you're asleep or during weekends!

I don't know about you but I wouldn't trade my old life back for the picture above. I know that if I am able to learn all about blogging and how to make money from it, eventually it would pay off.

And I intend to document the process here in my free blog.

Learn How To Make Money From Blogging

If you want to learn how to make money through blogging, then be prepared to do a lot of reading and experimentation. It's not difficult, but it does take some time. Time which will be well-spent if you plan to stay home more, make money and still be there for your family.

Here are a few tips to take you closer to your goal.

Tip #1. The first thing you should do is read ebooks and watch some video tutorials. Learn from people who've done it and are successful at it. One of the first ebooks I've read on this particular subject is The Roadmap to Become A Blogger by Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick. They've also made step-by-step video tutorials to help all the newbies out there. You can visit them at becomeablogger.com.

Another useful resource is an ebook and website called bloggingformoolah.com.

These 2 FREE ebooks combined will give you an idea whether you are cut out to be one of those people who earn six-figure incomes from their blogs.

Tip # 2. If you don't have one yet, then you better open a PayPal account ASAP. This will enable you to accept and receive payments online.

Tip # 3: Do a self-assessment. List all of your passions. What are your interests and hobbies? What do you love to do and talk about most? What would you rather do if you lose your job tomorrow? What are those things that you know how to do and can teach others to do as well?

If you already know what to blog about and are excited to let others know about it, it would be easier for you to learn the technical side of it. Do what you love, blog about it, and the money will follow.

Tip # 4: Set aside a little money to jumpstart your blogging business. You will need to buy a domain name and a webhosting account at the very least. So, don't quit your job just yet. Blogging is not a quick-rich scheme. Yes, some people are getting rich at it but it didn't take just a week or two for them to earn thousands of dollars from their blogs.

Tip # 5: Be open to new possibilities. There are a lot of ways to make money online and blogging is just one of them. The great thing about blogging is that you can combine it with a lot of other business opportunities like affiliate marketing, promoting and selling your own (physical) products online, online auctions such as eBay, or even writing your own ebooks.

Blogging may just be the start of your entry into the blue ocean that is internet marketing. After all, this blogging and internet business is truly revolutionizing the way people look at how we conduct business. Who wouldn't want to spend more time at home, doing what you love and being with your family at the same time while making lots of money?

If you're ready to embark on this new journey then you better be prepared. Here are a few more tools for soon-to-be bloggers and internet marketers:
